Real Estate Marketing - How To Use Direct Mail To Increase Your Business
Direct mail is a very useful real estate marketing tool to grow and sustain your real estate business. But just like every other method, there is a right way and a wrong way to use it. Most real estate agents get this wrong. By making a few simple changes, you can immediately improve the response you get from direct mail.
Many real estate agents use direct mail as part of their real estate marketing. There are some things to do to make the use of direct mail much more effective. One of the biggest things you can do is to put a response mechanism into you direct mail piece to increase the leads you get. Sending out mail is a good thing to do. But much of it is wasted.
Sending out a post card or letter to a farm area can introduce you to the market and familiarize the market with you and your services. Much of the mail I see though is nothing more than an expanded version of a business card. It basically says, "Here is my name. Here is what I do. Here is how you can contact me." It fails to give a reason to contact you.
You most likely have been led to believe that if someone knows who you are and what you do, that they will eventually call upon you when they need what you have. This may have worked great when there were only a few using this method. But in today's overly competitive world, you must give them reason to call you instead of someone else who is also sending them mail. Sending them a cake recipe a few times a year isn't going to work.
Your direct mail has to ask them to respond and has to provide a benefit to them for doing so. One of the best ways I have found to do this is to send out a letter or post card, and direct them to your website. But you must do more than just put your web address on it. You must entice them with an offer that will make it worth their efforts to go to your website and see what's there for them. Once they are there, you have infinite space to tell them why you are the best choice for their real estate needs.
